Copyediting and Proofreading
My copyediting I correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency errors and recast and/or move sentences around to ensure that your language and ideas flow smoothly and your meaning is clear. I also address formatting issues, ensuring that the styles for such elements as headers and footers, headings, lists, and footnotes are consistent throughout and in keeping with your preference or a particular style guide.

Proofreading is the final stage in the review process. Your manuscript has been copyedited and just needs one final pass to make it perfect before you send it out into the world. At this point I correct only minor mistakes such as typos, repeated or missing words, last-minute spelling or punctuation errors, or problems that occur in a publisher's page proofs, including inconsistent spacing, incorrect heading levels, or bad word, line, or page breaks.
Note: Proofreading does not include resolving organizational issues, editing awkward wording or syntax, or making suggestions for improvement. If you feel your manuscript needs more than just a bit of final polish, you may want to consider developmental editing and/or copyediting. Read more |
