The Final Details: Proofreading

Proofreading is the final stage in the review process. Your manuscript has been copyedited and just needs one final pass to make it perfect before you send it out into the world. At this point I correct only minor mistakes such as typos, repeated or missing words, last-minute spelling or punctuation errors, or problems that occur in a publisher's page proofs, including inconsistent spacing, incorrect heading levels, or bad word, line, or page breaks.
Note: Proofreading does not include resolving organizational issues, editing awkward wording or syntax, or making suggestions for improvement. If you feel your manuscript needs more than just a bit of final polish, you may want to consider developmental editing and/or copyediting.
Rates for proofreading depend on the project.
