The Close-Up: Copyediting
Copyediting is the nitty-gritty of editorial review. At this level I correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency errors and recast and/or move sentences around to ensure that your language and ideas flow smoothly and your meaning is clear. I also address formatting issues, ensuring that the styles for such elements as headers and footers, headings, lists, and footnotes are consistent throughout and in keeping with your preference or a particular style guide.
Note: This stage occurs after the main content and organization of your manuscript have been completely finalized, i.e., everything is in there and just where you want it. If it isn’t, you risk spending time and money on copyediting portions of an incomplete draft that might be altered or cut entirely from the final version. If you need help with the structure and content of your manuscript, you may want to consider a developmental edit first.
Rates for copyediting depend on the project.

as much as he dislikes not to be published."
